Rep. Jacob K. Javits, of New York, today asked Secretary of State Dean Acheson for “the earliest possible expression” on U.S. policy on the shipment of arms by Britain to the Arab states.
In a letter to the Secretary of State, Mr. Javits said that he investigated the arms situation during his recent trip to Israel and Europe. He said he found a “dangerous situation about the eventuality of a renewal of the Arab-Israeli war.” He submitted documentation to Mr. Acheson, including reports of large-scale arms sales by Britain to the Arabs.
