Rep. Tom Lantos (D-Calif.) has asked the United States to keep soldiers in the Sinai. Lantos, in a letter to National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, said the drastic cut in America’s contribution to the international peacekeeping force in the Sinai, as suggested by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, “would produce an unfortunate result in the region.”
