A leading Rio newspaper, Journal do Brasil, reports that 14,000 Arab refugees have entered Brazil since the Six-Day War. The paper said the immigration is continuing at the rate of 40-60 persons a month.
The Arab refugees, many illiterate, the paper said, come on tourist visas without the right to work here. They receive no assistance from the many Arab organizations in the country with the exception of El Fatah, the terrorist organization, which seeks to find recruits among them. The newcomers, the paper said, settle in the suburbs of Rio. Sao Paulo, Parana and Rio Grande do Sul.
