A report from Nairobi, capital of Kenya, said today that British guards have been ordered to replace Africans in the Gilgil detention camp where about 250 Palestinian Jews are being held as political prisoners. The new move was allegedly taken because the Jewish detainees are said to be restive over the fact that their promised repatriation to Palestine has been cancelled for the duration of the truce period.
Meanwhile, a Foreign Office spokesman denied today that the Provisional Government of Israel has informally asked the British Government to grant it de facto recognition.
