The Center Party of former Chancellor Heinrich Bruening had agreed to appoint Paul Joseph Goebbels, chief of the Hitler party in Berlin, Minister of Press and Education in the event of a coalition with the Nazis.
This disclosure was made by Goebbels himself yesterday in the course of a heated debate with the Nationalists. The agreement was allegedly entered into during the progress of the Nazi-Center negotiations prior to the dissolution of the Reichstag.
The Minister of Education has under his jurisdiction the supervision of the Jewish Communities and Youth Education. Had Goebbels received the post, he would have been in a powerful position to wreak Nazi “vengeance” against the Jews.
