Serious dissension has arisen between the British representative in Transjordan and Premier Ibrahim Hashem over the question of permitting Jews to settle there, the Arab newspapers report.
The papers stated that while the Arabs favor admittance of Jews, Lieutenant Colonel C.H.F. Cox, the agent of High Commissioner Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, refused to allow them to enter, saying that he does not want an “additional headache.”
Trans Jordan, adjoining Palestine, is a separate British mandated territory. The Palestine High Commissioner, who is also High Commissioner of Trans Jordan, is represented there by Col. Cox.
