El Liwaa, Arab daily, reported today that the Gaza police, on instructions from Jerusalem, had refused to permit the settling of a number of Jewish families in Beersheba, forcing them to return to Jerusalem.
The report aroused interest because under restrictions on close settlement of land contemplated by the Government, the Beersheba section was to have been exempted from the curbs in view of the scarcity of water there.
