The Moslem Supreme Council, the organization administering the Moslem religious funds and properties, has decided to grant a fund of £100,000 for the purpose of purchasing land, especially orange land, for settling Arabs in Palestine, according to a report of the “Meraat El Shark,” Arab weekly. The money is to be available shortly and the program is to be carried out within a period of four years.
No verification of this report could be obtained from other sources.
The Arab paper “El Carmel” in its current issue denies the report that the concession on the Huleh lands was sold to Jews. The paper states that the Arab pre-war concessionnaires, after failing to secure Arab capital obtained a loan from a bank and expect to begin work in September. The concession covers all rights, including fishing, forestry and land cultivation.
