Secret instructions have been issued to Nazi Storm Troops to convert Saturday, March 4th, the eve of the German election, into a St. Bartholomew Eve for the disposal of leading opponents of the Nazis.

This rumor, which is widely circulated throughout Berlin today, is also reported by the Reuter News Service.

Alfred Apfel, a former president of the Zionist organization here, was among those included in the wholesale arrests of alleged Communists today in connection with the incendiary fire which swept the Reichstag building early this morning.

Herr Apfel, who is not a Communist, recently acted as counsel for a number of arrested Communists. For this reason, it is believed, he was included among those suspected of responsibility for the firing of the Reichstag Chamber, who were ordered arrested by Minister Goering.
