A report circulated in several American newspapers that anti-Jewish excesses took place in a Jewish colony near Simferopol, Crimea, has no foundation in fact.
No Jewish farmer was killed and no house burned, as the report stated.
The report probably originated in an incident which took place in the village Aibary, near Jankoy, where six drunken hooligans smashed the windows and broke the doors of the house of a Jewish settler. This occurred on April 12. The hooligans were immediately arrested.
The headquarters of the United Jewish Campaign in New York City recived a similar reply to their inquiry concerning the report from the headquarters of the Agro-joint in Moscow.
