Jewish leaders of Kaunas, Lithuania, in a telephone conversation with the Jewish Telegraphic Agency head-quarters here last night, asked the news service to report that order had been restored in Kursnai, where anti-Semitic disorders had broken out earlier in the day. The agency was informed that the central government had assured a Jewish delegation that vigorous measures would be taken throughout the country.
One Jewish youth, in training for agricultural work in Palestine, was seriously injured at Kursnai, it was revealed.
In Siauliai, where earlier in the week several disorders had occurred, it was learned that Jewish residents still fear to leave the protection of their homes during the evening.
The Jewish leaders confirmed the correctness of the government’s statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency earlier yesterday but pointed out that attacks had occurred at Ponevezh and Rasseinia.
