Al Liwaa, Arab daily, reported today that the Government contemplates building a canal between the Mediterranean port of Haifa and the Arabian harbor of Akaba for the sole use of Great Britain.
The canal would have great wartime strategic value in the event the Suez Canal were blockaded. Arab newspapers had previously reported that the Government was considering building a railroad between Haifa and Akaba.
Al Liwaa also reported that Jamal el Husseini, president of the Palestine Arab Party, visited John Hathorn-Hall, chief Government secretary, discussing land and other problems.
