Palestine newspapers said today that Haile Selassie, fugitive emperor of Ethiopia, will be the guest of High Commissioner Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope until he acquires permanent residence in Jerusalem.
The emperor is expected to arrive at Haifa Saturday from Jibuti, French Somaliland, on the cruiser Enterprise placed at his disposal by the British Government.
The Ethiopian consul here was said to have proceeded to Port Said to meet the Negus.
In reply to an inquiry whether the emperor would remain in Palestine, the Palestine Government said: “The Palestine administration is unaware of anything and cannot say anything.”
