Reports of pogroms in Danzig and German Silesia reached here today, telling of widespread destruction of synagogues and Jewish shops in both places and the burning of three Jews in a synagogue at Beuthen, German Silesia.
Danzig advices said Nazis organized pogroms throughout the entire Free City district, demolishing the Danzig synagogue, burning its Holy Scrolls, pillaging Jewish shops, beating up many Jews and arresting many others. The synagogue at Zoppot, a resort city, was bombed and then burned. The synagogue at Langfurt was demolished.
Three Jews were said to have been burned when a synagogue at Beuthen, German Silesia, was set on fire by Nazis. Burning of other synagogues in the district, demolition of Jewish shops and mass arrests were also reported.
