Reports which were just received at Government headquarters in Jerusalem indicate that the earthquake was felt in Hebron, Haifa, Afuleh, Acre, Ludd, Jericho, Tiberias, Nazareth, Nablus, Ramleh. Everywhere many houses, including municipal and government buildings were damaged. Telegraph and telephone communication was interrupted.
In Jerusalem, the government house on the Mount of Olives, which suffered greatly in the earthquake las July was again damaged. The Hebrew University on Mount Scopus again suffered damages, many walls of the buildings became cracked.
In many cities and villages the popcation passed the night in the open, being afraid of a repetition of the shock.
A group of Jewish business men have taken over the Century Bank, 335 W. 3rd Street. New York City, it was announced.
The chairman, of the Board of Directors is Chartes S. Guggenhelmer of the firm of Guggenhelmer. Untemeyer and Marsall. Irwin Untemeyer. son of Samuel Untermeyer is also a director. The following have been elected officers of the bank: James J. Kennedy, former Deputy Superintendent of Banks of the State of New York, president r Montromery Schuyler, of Sehuyter. Earl and Co. members of the New York Stock Exchange and Emannel Neurmnaun: D. B. Tripp, cashier and J. W. Miller, assistant cashier.
