Representatives of the “Quartet” guiding the Israeli-Palestinian peace process will meet in Washington next month. U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice called the Feb. 2 meeting of the group — composed of the United States, United Nations, European Union and Russia — after her visit to the Middle East to spur new peace talks. Rice plans to make Israeli-Palestinian peace a centerpiece of U.S. foreign policy in the Bush administration’s last two years.
