Samuel Leavitt, a lawyer, was nominated this week as the Republican candidate for Justice of the City Court to succeed Bernard L. Shientag, whom Governor Roosevelt recently appointed a Supreme Court Justice. Mr. Leavitt’s was the only name considered by the Republicans as a candidate for this office in the primary elections.
Mr. Leavitt, who is 51 years old, was graduated from the New York University Law School and was admitted to the bar in 1901. He has been active in Republican district politics in Manhattan for the past thirty years.
