Residents in several West Bank towns have initiated the establishment of a local civil guard, similar to the one established in Israel several years ago to prevent terrorist activities. Only in the West Bank, the purpose of the civil guards is to fight growing crime. The initiators of the present move are the heads of the Tulkarem Chamber of Commerce. They are now trying to convince other Chambers of Commerce to organize the guards throughout the West Bank.
