The American surface-to-surface short range missile, the “Lance,” has been incorporated into Israel’s artillery corps. This was learned today when Defense Minister Shimon Peres and senior army officers visited an artillery corps base and watched soldiers training with the new weapon. Israeli soldiers also trained with the 100-kilometer range missile in the United States and won the top marks at the American training center. The Lance, which is mounted on a launcher, is the American answer to the Russian “Frog” missile which was used by the Syrians and Egyptians during the Yom Kippur War.
