Firing in the air, the Palestine police yesterday dispersed Revisionist street demonstrators carrying posters demanding the immediate establishment of Palestine as an independent Jewish State guaranteed by the United Nations.

The demonstration followed a mass-meeting called by the Revisionists at which the rescue of Jews from Europe was urged with emphasis on demands contained in posters place throughout the city. The posters, carrying the signature of the Irgun Zvai Leumi (National Military Organization), which is a Revisionist body, demanded the formation of a Jewish State, the immediate establishment of a provisional Jewish Government, a Jewish military force and free Jewish immigration. Full equal rights were promised to the Arabs.

A four-day strike of 1,300 Jewish and Arab railway workers concluded today in Haifa when the Labor Department of the Palestine Government promised to lock into the demands of the strikers. The principal demands included the cancellation of a proposed out in the wage increases given to meet the rise in the cost of living and the establishment of a workmen’s compensation fund to assist workers who are injured on the job.
