Acting on the affidavit submitted yesterday by Inspector-General Roy G. B. Spicer, commandant of the Palestine police, the high court decided today that the trial of the three. Revisionist Zionists, Aba Achimeier, accused of the murder of Dr. Chaim Arlosoroff, be transferred to Jerusalem from Jaffa. The men go on trial on April 23.
The court rendered its decision after Horace Samuel, well known London attorney defending the three men, had submitted to the court affidavits from Mayor Meyer Dizengoff of Tel Aviv and the vice-mayor, Israel Rokach, guaranteeing public safety in Tel Aviv during the duration of the trial.
Dr. Arlosoroff, noted Zionist labor leader, was shot and killed on June 16, 1933. Police arrested the three Revisionists and accused them of the murder. After a lengthy hearing, which closed only recently, and during which a mass of contradictory evidence was submitted, Magistrate Ralph Bodily, who presided, decided to commit the men for trial.
They are charged with premeditated murder under Article 170 of the Ottoman Penal Code. The trial is expected to last at least two months.
