The criticism of Edwin Samuel, son of Sir Herbert Samuel, former High Commissioner of Palestine, has been revived, this time by the Arab paper, “Carmel,” which demands that this “Zionist son of a Zionist leader” be relieved of his duty of checking up on the Arab press.
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency is reliably informed that checking up on the Arab press is no part of young Samuel’s duties as a government official but is the function of Ruhi Bey, a Moslem member of the secretariat, and the successor of George Antonius, who has been transferred to the department of education, a transfer to which he is seriously objecting.
