“revolutionising” Jewish Life in Soviet Russia: Conference of Jewish Cultural Workers Opened in Mins

Steps for revolutionising the whole range of Jewish intellectual life in the Soviet countries are being discussed at a Conference of Jewish cultural workers, writers and teachers which has just been opened for that purpose at Minsk, the opening address being delivered by M. Platun, the Minister of Education in White Russia. The schools are the chief point of discussion. Jewish education, according to the conveners of the Conference, is to be further internationalised and religious tendencies still more eliminated. Jewish literature is to be directed towards the Marxian conception of life and away from such tendencies as are encouraged by Mr. Niger, the famous Yiddish literary critic in America, and others of his stamp. The Conference has sent a message of greeting to Stalin.
