Richard Murphy, he U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern and South Asian Affairs, met with Premier Menachem Begin and Foreign Minister Yitzhak Shamir here Wednesday. Following the meeting, Murphy said the three talked mainly about the situation in the Mideast and the possible role of Saudi Arabia in a settlement of the crisis in Lebanon. Murphy’s recent nomination by President Reagan as Assistant Secretary is awaiting Congressional approval.
