“I will fast until they stop torturing Jews in Germany,” declared an eighty-year-old Jew by the name of Moishe Chnak, already in the tenth day of his indefinite fast.

“Fasting is the only remedy. All Jews should fast until salvation will come,” the Jewish Gandhi said.

Moishe Chnak is an old Czarist soldier who served for twenty-five years in the Russian army. He participated in the Russo-Japanese War and was wounded twice. He has been living in Riga for the past twenty years. He stated that at one time he fasted for two consecutive weeks while on the battlefield.
