The French nationalist group “Oeuvre Francaise” (French Work) has been given a subpoena to appear in Paris Court (Palais de Justice) for having spread anti-Semitic posters in the city of Rennes and the French capital. The summons cited the group for attempting to “stir racial hatred.” It was issued to Pierre Sidos, president of the organization. The trial is expected to take place in one to two months.
The suit against the group was brought by the International League Against Racism and Anti-Semitism (LICA) after being alerted about the anti-Semitic activities by its local chapter in Rennes. The posters, which were circulated in Oct. and Nov. 1973, included such statements as “France for the French,” and “The French will not follow orders from Tel Aviv.”
