A municipal school named for the State of Israel was opened here at a ceremony attended by Mayor Negrao de Lima and Israel Minister Ariah Aroch. The school is located in a workers’ suburb in which no Jews reside.
The naming of the school for the State of Israel was decided upon by the Rio de Janeiro municipality in honor of Israel’s tenth anniversary. In his speech, Mayor de Lima emphasized the contribution of the Jews of Brazil to the development of the Brazilian capital.
