Israel’s industrial production rose, during the first quarter of 1961, by 13 percent over last year, while the country’s employment in industry went up by eight percent, Pinhas Sapir, Minister of Commerce and Industry, announced here today.
Because of this higher industrial productivity, Mr. Sapir said, there will be no difficulty in finding employment for the increasing number of immigrants now arriving in Israel. According to the plans, he stated, 15, 000 to 20, 000 more workers can be absorbed in Israeli industry alone by the end of next year.
