A substantial increase in the number of Jewish immigrants to Canada during the first six months of 1964, compared with the same period of 1963, was reported today by the Department of Citizenship and Immigration.
The number of such immigrants in the first half of 1964 was 1,284, compared with 853 in the first six months of 1963. The increase in Jewish immigration was paralleled by a larger total immigration to Canada, 51,523 newcomers in the first half of this year, compared with 41,444 in 1963.
