A huge increase in the amounts of firearms and ammunition confiscated in Palestine occurred in 1937, Colonial Secretary William G.A. Ormsby-Gore reported today in a written reply to a question by Philip Noel Baker, Labor Member of Parliament.
Rifles confiscated in 1937 totalled 1,246, compared with 328 in 1936 and 178 in 1935. Revolvers totalled 1,456 compared with 319 and 264 in the previous years. Bombs and grenades totalled 113 compared with 443 and 45.
