“That disgusting Jew, Albert Ballin,” is how der Stuermer, Julius Streicher’s anti-Semitic publication refers to the creator of the Hamburg-American line, according to a recent bulletin of the Brussels Committee for Economic Action. The bulletin quotes der Stuermer as follows:
“The Hamburg-American Line should reflect that people of German race, mindful of their Germanity, must refuse to board a ship that bears the name of this disgusting Jew who died the ninth of November by suicide after having sold and betrayed the German commercial fleet to the Allies.”
Albert Ballin committed suicide from despair at the German defeat in the World War.
