The 75th anniversary of Rishon L’Zion, one of the oldest Bila settlements now of municipal status in Israel, was celebrated last night with the participation of Prime Minister Ben Gurion and other noted guests.
The Prime Minister recalled that 50 years ago he worked in Baron Rothschild’s grand caves in Rishon L’Zion and had stamped out grapes in a huge barrel for the wineries. He called on the youth of Rishon L’Zion to follow the example of their fathers and grandfathers and go south to establish new settlements on the sand. The desert is in the Negev, he said.
