All ritual slaughtering houses, even those maintained by the government-recognized Jewish communities, will be required to pay a tax similar to that levied on any private business, according to a ruling handed down today by the Supreme Administrative Court. Jewish leaders see in this decision an obvious discrimination against the Jews because the Polish constitution specifically provides that all religious enterprises are to be free from taxation.
