Robert Briscoe, who became Dublin’s first Jewish Lord Mayor in 1956, was again elected to that office last night by a 22-21 vote of the City Council. A former president of the Irish Board of Shechita and a former member of the New Zionist Executive under Vladimir Tabctinsky, Mr. Briscoe was named Lord Mayor in 1956 when his name was drawn from a hat after a tie vote in the Council. He lost the election the following year in the same manner.
