Robert Szold commenting on the statement issued by Edmund I. Kaufmann, president of the Zionist Organization of America, yesterday said: “The statement will naturally cause a great deal of surprise and regret to his host of admirers and friends throughout the country. In view of the fact of Mr. Kaufmann’s forthright statement as to his personal position, however, the proposal that Judge Levinthal of Philadelphia be elected president of the Zionist Organization of America for the coming year, will, I am sure, meet with widespread and enthusiastic approval and support. I look forward to a great convention and a useful year of Zionist activity in this country.”
