The sum of $262,000 was raised by the United Jewish Campaign in Rochester, N. Y., according to an announcement by the national headquarters of the campaign in New York.
This result, announced at a Victory Dinner held Monday night, addressed by Bernard B. Given, State Chairman, Dr. Solomon J. Appelbaum, State Vice-Chairman, Rabbi Horace Wolff, Henry Stern, chairman of the Rochesman of the Rochester Campaign, is said to be the largest sum of money ever raised by the Jews of Rocchester. The original quota for Rochester was $175,000.
David A. Brown announced that the national headquarters had received yesterday a check for $22,500 from Buffalo, representing 10 per cent, of its quota. The payment is made in advance of the campaign which will be held early in the Fall. A check for $1,000 was also received from Portland, Me., which is also a 10 per cent. payment in advance of the local drive.
