Prominent members of American Jewry from all parts of the country were present Tuesday night at the dedication exercises of the synagogue and synagogue center of Rodeph Shalom congregation.
The entire rabbinate of Philadelphia and many rabbis from other cities were present, as well as lay officers of all congregations in the city.
Lionel Friedman, chairman of the building committee, delivered the keys of the synagogue to Charles Edwin Fox, president of the congregation. Rabbi Louis Wolsey made the closing prayer and pronounced the benediction.
The edifice, which is one of the finest of its kind in America, has been in course of construction about a year, and was erected at a cost of $1,500,000. It replaces one in which the congregation worshipped for half a century, the old building being one of the landmarks of Philadelphia.
Beth Judah Synagogue of Philadelphia, was dedicated last Sunday.
Mayor Mackey, Rabbi Mortimer J. Cohen and Abraham Wernick were among the speakers. William Taylor is the president of the congregation and Rabbi Matthew S. Rosen is rabbi of the congregation.
