Investors headed by Israel Rogosin. American industrialist, will expand the rayon plant at Ashdod. building an additional plant worth $5,000,000 according to an agreement announced here today. Mr. Rogosin left for the United States today, after having come here to negotiate the latest agreement.
The new building will be twice as large as the present plant, which produces nylon threads for fabrics and tires from basic chemical materials. The existing plant, completed only last December, already produces each month 250,000 tons of tire and fabric yarn, plus 100,000 tons monthly of nylon and rayon for textiles.
Israel’s gross national product rose 12 percent during the fiscal year ending March 31, the Ministry of Labor reported today. The increase was credited to a four percent jump in labor productivity, the introduction of modern equipment in Israel plants and a larger labor force.
The report noted significant gains in agriculture and construction work but no notable increase in white collar worker output and “substandard” conditions in administrative efficiency. The report termed “miraculous” the speed of adjustment of immigrants from backward countries to modern technology in Israel.
