APPOINTMENT OF ROMAN SLOBODIN, FORMERLY OF THE NEW YORK WORLD-TELEGRAM, AS CORRESPONDENT IN PALESTINE FOR THE JEWISH TELEGRAPHIC AGENCY WAS ANNOUNCED TODAY BY GEORGE BACKER, PRESIDENT OF THE J.T.A.
MR. SLOBODIN SAILED TODAY ON THE EXETER OF THE AMERICAN EXPORT LINE TO ASSUME HIS DUTIES. HE WILL MAKE HIS HEADQUARTERS AT THE JERUSALEM BUREAU OF THE J.T.A. BUT WILL TRAVEL EXTENSIVELY THROUGHOUT THE NEAR EAST COVERING NEWS OF INTEREST TO JEWS.
MR. SLOBODIN HAS WORKED AS A REPORTER IN NEW YORK FOR TEN YEARS, FIRST AS A SPORTS WRITER FOR THE NEW YORK SUN, THEN ON THE GENERAL NEWS STAFF OF THE WORLD UNTIL IT WAS MERGED WITH THE TELEGRAM.
