A large demonstration protesting yesterday’s fascist attack on Jew in the Rome Jewish ghetto quarter was staged here last night in the Rome synagogue.
Earlier, Under-Secretary for Internal Affairs Achille Marazza expressed the Italian Government’s regret over the incident to Dr. Raffaele Cantoni, president of the Union of Italian-Jewish Communities, and voiced the government’s determination to prevent its repetition. Meanwhile, strong forces of police stood guard today in the Jewish quarter to head off any possible recurrence of the raid, in which several Jews were seriously injured.
