The gratitude of the Rome Jewish community for actions taken by the authorities against Rightist election campaigners who invaded the Jewish section of Rome and clashed with Jews was conveyed today to Interior Minister Taviani.
The Cabinet member received Chief Rabbi Elio Toaff and Professor Pitigliano, president of the Rome Jewish community, who presented the thanks of the Rome Jews. The incidents occurred on June 5 and 6.
The Minister reiterated to the two Jewish leaders the determination of the Italian Government to prevent any renewals of acts of intolerance of an anti-Semitic character and to guarantee constitutional freedom to all citizens.
