A recommendation for the creation of a “roof company” to coordinate control of the many government-owned industrial corporations in Israel was urged again today by the Technical Advisory Board of the Ministry of Development.
The board is headed by Sir Ben Lockspeiser, noted British scientist. It includes scientists and experts from Israel and abroad and it meets twice a year.
The initial recommendation was made six months ago but the Government has not acted to implement it. The board, in its report today, stated that Government development companies could be made profitable if they were grouped under one head along the lines of large American corporations which have wholly-owned subsidiaries.
