An exhibition of 50 recent paintings by James N. Rosenberg, noted American Jewish leader and lawyer whose paintings can be found in the leading art museums in the United States and in numerous American embassies in various countries, opened here today to aid the establishment of the Maurice B. Hexter Chair in American Philanthropy at Brandeis University. The paintings are offered by Mr. Rosenberg as gifts to friends and supporters of the establishment of this Chair.
On the occasion of the exhibition. Dr. A. L. Sachar, president of Brandeis University, revealed that Mr. Rosenberg was responsible for teaming up the Harvard Law School with Brandeis in a project that helped to codify a legal system for the State of Israel, Dr. Sachar emphasized that Mr.Rosenberg has made many important art gifts to university collections. “I have known few men who have balanced so ably and so amiably the claims of community service and of the inner life, ” Dr. Sachar stated.
