A gift of $25,000 was made by Jalius Rosenwald to the Chicago Field Museum as a tribute to Edward Ayer, first president of the museum, who celebrated his 83rd birthday. There is no suggestion as to how the money shall to used.
Edward Ayer is the sponsor and founder of collections worth several hundred thousand dollars. Rosenwald’s gift will be known as the Julius and Aegusta Rosenwald Fund and will remain in trust forever, according to D. Davies, director of the museum. The income of the fund will be used to obtain desired additions to North American Indian collections founded by Ayer.
