Thousands of Jews here are threatened with expulsion as the result of the new citizenship law passed by the Roumanian Senate. Although the law has not yet gone into effect, the Roumanian Government has ordered the local authorities to expel all foreigners engaged in businesses, occupations or professions which could be filled by Roumanians. The Jewish population is panic-stricken at this order and has appealed to the newspaper offices and the various Consulates to protect their right of asylum. Many of the Consulates have protested vigorously to the Roumanian Government concerning the expulsions.
