Following the report of the Commission of Inquiry headed by M. Caloianu, Director of the Ministry of the Interior, and the Jewish Senator, Horia Carp, which found that a number of local officials at Chisme were concerned in the anti-Jewish attacks there, in connection with which the local synagogue was burned down, the Ministry of the Interior has ordered the head of the local gendarmerie to be tried by court martial. A number of other officials, including the sub-Prefect and the Secretary of the Municipality, will be dismissed from their posts. The Ministry has also promised to make good all losses incurred in connection with the burning down of the synagogue.
The Bessarabian Prefects have been ordered to call together all Government officials in the province, and warn them that the Government will take drastic measures to suppress any attempts to cause disorders in the country, or to sow enmity between the various sections of the population.
