The impoverished Jewish communities in Roumania and Bukovina, are meeting their welfare problems out of their own meager resources, according to Dr. Bernhard Kahn, European Director of the Joint Distribution Committee, in a report made public here by Rabbi Jonah B. Wise.
Dr. Kahn declared that despite the fact that the Joint Distribution Committee had only given these communities $1,213 for the purpose of feeding school children, many of them orphans, 2,158 were fed during the past winter.
