An extension of the term in which application for Roumanian citizenship may be made was granted to residents of Bessarabia. The term expires September 1. Applicants must prove that they have lived in Bessarabia since March 27, 1918, when the Roumanian military occupation of the country began.
Forty thousand Bessarabians have already applied for Roumanian citizenship. Those who settled in Roumania after March 27, 19187 will have to submit documentary proof of their eligibility for Roumanian citizenship.
