No progress in the negotiations with the Roumanian government concernting the Jewish situation there was reported by Lucien Wolf, secretary of the Joint Foreign Committee, to the Board of Jewish Deputies at its monthly meeting yesterday.
The Secretary reported that the investigation Committee of the League of Nations will shortly consider the petition of the Joint Foreign Committee, submitted three months ago. If necessary, the Joint Foreign Committee will submit supplementary reports covering the latest period.
In describing the present situation in Roumania. Mr. Wolf stated that the Roumanian government still declines to restrain the vicious anti-Semitic propaganda. The numerus clausus is being made permanent in the country. The last Jewist student was forced to leave the University of Transylvania. The new baccalaureate regulations for graduation from high school make it certain that no Jew will obtain his diploma permitting him to enter college.
