The Roumanian Legation here today cabled the Roumanian foreign office for the latest information regarding the reported anti-Semitic excesses in Roumania, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency’s correspondent learns. It is indicated that the Legation will make public such information as it may receive in response to this inquiry.

In the meantime the Legation has under consideration a communication regarding the present Jewish situation in Roumania from the American Jewish Congress.

A resolution to send seven officers of the organization to Washington to get Secretary of State Stimson to intercede with the Roumanian government “to accord its Jewish citizens a treatment consistent with the character of a civilized country” was adopted at a special meeting of the Roumanian Jewish Committee of America. The committee to go to Washington includes Saul S. Myers, Solomon Sufrin, Leon Fischer, Edward Herbert, Joseph Berg, Dr. Julius Klepper and B. E. Siegelstein.

The resolution adopted deplores the recent attacks on Jews in Targufromos and the subsequent imprisonment of Jews, and instructs its committee to call on Senator Robert Wagner to have him bring to the attention of the government Roumania’s treatment of its Jews.

“We ask for the sake of humanity and decency, that the fanatic Cuza be brought before the bar of justice, as under Roumanian law, we know he is amanable, and thus once for all put a stop to that vicious propaganda of hatred that brings only disgrace to an enlightened country and sorrow to a suffering people,” states the resolution.
